Dear Anthony,
Thank you very much for contacting me about your father's audio tapes.  He was a Master Sergeant at the time he was with AFVN, Saigon in 1966 to 1968 and became somewhat of a legend, admired and respected by many of the others with AFVN at the time.  .
I don't know if you have read them yet or not, but there are a number of reminisces and stories about your father, affectionately nicknamed "Dirty Dan," on the following AFVNVets.net pages:
https://www.afvnvets.net/conv--msgt-doherty.html         https://www.afvnvets.us/conv-adminsgt.html
I, for one, and I'm sure that many of the others who were with AFVN over the years would love to have access to those tapes.  If you and your sister could either donate or loan them to the AFVN Group, I am sure I could find someone who could convert them to DVD format and then post them on Youtube.  I apologize for not including "sell them" but we are a strictly volunteer group without a budget of any kind.
Respectfully yours,
Jim W

Roger,
Thanks for the contact.  I have sent Bob Morecook a copy of this message so he can add you to our AFVN@Yahoogroups.com list.
I've already added you to that AFVN Roster but would like a little more information if possible. What was your rank when working with AFVN? What years did you work with AFVN?
I know nothing about them, but Fuller, Samuels, Stock and Garman (spelled Garmon on the roster) are all on the AFVN Roster

( http://www.afvnvets.net/afvn-roster.html ) but I don't know if any of them are monitoring the site or are on members of AFVN@Yahoogroups.com.  I would suggest you send a message to everyone on the group and ask if they know anything.
Best wishes, and again, welcome,
Jim

Hello I'm Phil Davies, and would like to give you correct information about me , which effects Robert Kohtz.   I was the morning man on AFVN from Mid August 1970 to Jan 20, 1971.  You have Robert Kohtz ( friend of mine) in his BIO as doing same thing from July to December.   SP Kohtz was the Program Director at AFVN and walking the halls of AFVN, Saigon, doing Admin. duties.  I was the on air-morning man, from above dates.  Please feel free to contact me for more info, or if you would like me to send you my resume. I  was in radio for 45 plus years, from the age of 14.  I was awarded my 71R20 MOS, because of prior radio experience, before joining  U.S. Army.  Lets please correct this.

I just wonder if perhaps the op-plan that Don McMahon is talking a ouit and the evaucation plan that the Military Attache's Ofice in Saigon prepared might not have been two different plans:

Jim White

Don,

I'm sending this out to everyone on the AFVN@yahoogroups.com for comment.  I do not believe that you are lying or have any reason to do so.  But what you say below is so different from everything I have heard so far that I really believe you are talking about a different plan and I want to get some feedback from others others.  Also, I wonder if you have read the items in Section 15 of the AFVNVets.net History page.  ( http://www.afvnvets.net/afvn-history.html )  In particular, the narration by Chuck Neil at 16-2.  He was in charge of the American Radio Service which continued broadcasting in the Saigon area after the U.S. Forces moved out in early 1973 until the Fall of Saigon in 1975.

Phil,
You were just a little persistent when you sent me four messages in two days.  I might have answered more quickly but I was in the midst of getting something up on Robin Williams following his death on the 11th.  Just a case of bad timing.  On the other hand, your persistence in trying four times to get me by phone paid off.  As I told you, I was already on Skype talking with the website Help Desk.  And, if I lost that connection there would been no way to get the same person back.  Therefore I ignored your first two tries.  When you tried the third time I decided that perhaps I could stay on line with the Help Desk using my desktop computer and still answer you by using my notebook computer which just happened to be running at the time--normally I don't run two computers at once.  However, I forgot that for it I needed to plug the mic into a USB port so you couldn't hear me.  The fourth time I was ready for you.
Either way, I have made the following corrections: Your name in the roster
http://www.afvnvets.net/roster-d.html  I made you an SP5.  If that is incorrect, please let me know.  Added you to the list of Dawnbuster DJs.  Go to http://www.afvnvets.net/conv--goodmorning.html and scroll to the bottom.  Added you to the Photos & Stories section  http://www.afvnvets.us/pho-sto---p_davies.html  I amalgamated and rewrote you messages greatly because you repeated the same information several times.
Further corrections are possible.  However, as I told you yesterday, the bio data is controlled by Mason (not Tom, sorry) and Chu Green at macoi.vn@gmail.com .  As far as incorrect information on either the MACOI site or the AFVN site is concerned, I am sure that there is plenty of it.  Your name might have been put on original roster simply because someone said, "You know, there was this guy Phil Davies, who was in the Broadcasting section."
You are only about a day's drive away.  Can you come to the AFVN reunion in October?
Best wishes,
Jim
PS:  It ain't just "your history" that I am working on--it is "our history."

P.S. I hated production, always did, I am 63 now, did 45 yrs in radio, from the age 14. P.D., mornings and C. Engineer.. after getting back to the world...

Paul,
I assume you are referring to the  Blue Eagle Crew List under Project Jenny.  I'll add your name to the list but I can't do anything about any other missing names because I do not have access to the original materials.  I picked up what information I have in the Project Jenny section from the old Geocities AFVN Website (now defunct) and I have no idea where the webmaster for that site got his information.  There is a Blue Eagles Website [
http://www.blueeaglesofvietnam.com/ ] and Jim Hicks [ E-mail: jhicks35@bellsouth.net ] is listed as the webmaster.  You might want to contact him.

Yeah I can understand why you say that, however we all had to be on the same page.  The plan comes from an op-order which is SOP in any deployment.  Let us not forget that when these are implemented all units in the task force ideally have one boss.  This case was ctf-76.  I was in CIC when the Ambassador had called the President on hicom. As I stated before I retired out and lots of things happened not the way people think.  As the ambassador talked I wrote down everything said.  Sure wish I knew for absolutely sure the declassification of this.evacuation.  I know quite a lot of what happened in Cambodia, Vietnam and USNS Mayaqueze(sp).  Thanks for listening.  Maybe one day when the mud clears up we can talk.

Thank you all AFVN Saigon and AFRTS Guys.  You were our news.

Jim W.,
My e-mail was sent out to the group back on the 16th and I have received responses.  We have made contacts and have scheduled the interviews. Thank you for your help on this.
Once I know what the broadcast times are, I will send that to you. We have a show called "Veteran's Corner" which airs weekly, and we are planning to do one on AFVN.  We are also planning on airing AFVN recordings which I collected from the Web on the morning on Veteran's day.  This will go out to the Central New Jersey area over WRSU-FM, the Rutgers University station and also over the web over the Station's web stream.
Thanks again for your help.
Best regards.
