Harry,
Didn't realize that you were (were going to be?) in Japan.  I assumed you were in Florida.  Japan is a pretty big place.  When and where?  Perhaps we can get together, who knows?

Harry,
All went well with the docs.  Had a successful cataract operation and negative bladder scan (not both at the same time nor by the same doctor).
The next time I publish the website, your entry on the roster will be:
Harry Simmons, III  Cpl, USMC  Chief, Radio Engineer / Announcer  Saigon / Announcer  Da Nang  (67-69)   TET
The roster does not normally include information on the names of shows, etc.  The place for that would be for you to submit something in the way of photos and your personal story while at AFVN for inclusion in the AFVN Photos and Stories page.   I noticed that your dates spread across three calendar years.  Did you have two tours, or a tour of over 12 months?  I.E., was your time in Saigon and then in Da Nang contiguous or what?
Your station's Vietnam Tribute program sounds very interesting so please let me know when you have a specific URL for it.  The best to way to get the news out to the AFVN group would be to send an email to AFVN@yahoogroups.com (as well as perhaps make a Facebook entry) about it sometime closer to when it will be broadcast.  At the moment a search for "Vietnam" on ;the 1330AMWEBY page comes up negative.  If, after it is broadcast, it will continue to be available on the Internet, then I will add a link under "Related to Vietnam" but if it won't be so available, then I won't.  The AFVN website is designed for permanent rather than temporary information.
Jim
PS:  Is "1330 AM" possible or just a name?  To me, it should be either 0130 hours or 1:30 AM or  1330 hours or 1:30 PM.

Hi,

I no longer manage the AFVN site.  You should write Jim white.  I am copying him in this.

The pronunciation of my last name is Sigh-Mons.. or Siiiii   Muns. Looks funny.
I will make sure you’re updated on a regular basis.
I will be in Japan in the next few months. Let’s have lunch, I’ll pay.

Dear Harry,
Thanks for contacting Bob.  He sent your message on to me.  I took over the site from late October 2012 after the original site, which Bob had run, ran into problems when Geocities closed down.  Just in case you haven't found it yet, the URL for the new site is https://www.afvnvets.net/
Will gladly accept any (photos, stories, documents, etc) you have that are related to AFVN and/or Vietnam.  You can send them to me at the above email address or via DropBox.  Or, if you have a large number of items, please let me know and I'll give you my snail address so perhaps you can send them on a thumbnail drive.  As much as possible, please mark or name your photos as to where, when and who.
Again, thank you,
Jim W AFVNVets.net Webmaster

Hello Jim,
Hoping that your medical procedures all went well.
Since we last spoke online about updating my AFVN profile, I have some new and exciting AFVN news. Attached is a work in progress mission statement of a Vietnam Veterans Tribute program now in production to air on 1330 AM WEBY Radio Pensacola, Florida. The broadcast will also stream live at http://www.1330weby.com and an additional link yet to be established.
Pass the word, this will be exciting.
My corrected AFVN service information is also provided below.
Thanks
Harry Simons

Harry,
Duly noted.  With one "m," do you pronounce it "Sigh-mons" rather than "Sea-mons?
Thanks for clarifying your tour.  Also for helping me understand how to "not read a clock."  The AM after the 1330 fooled me. Since you program is a one-time event, again I suggest you advertise it via the group and Facebook.   I would like to hear the live stream so please be sure to send me the time and date.

Hello Jim
It’s my pleasure to make your acquaintance. I have recently become aware of all the cool stuff that exists on the Internet about AFVN. I must admit I have not paid as much attention as I probably should have re-connecting with the past in Vietnam.
As a result of a friend finding an air check of mine online from the Da Nang days I have given this research some more attention. In doing so it’s apparent that some of the information provided at various sites is incomplete.  The AFVNvets.net site however is as good as it gets.  Having said all this I’m providing some additional information about my service that could be included in the Roster section etc. I spent additional time in country beyond my original deployment. Details below.
Thank you in advance for the update to the Web Site. I intend to become more active and will share with you some stuff in the near future.
Thanks again
Harry Simons

Harry,
Thanks for the compliment.  My only hope is that I can continue to make it better, more accurate and with more information.  However, in a sense, it isn't a race as to which site is "best."   The old Geocities site (now on Reocities) run by Bob Morecook is "dead" in that ever since Geocities went bankrupt a number of years ago it has become impossible to edit or add to it.  Several others, for example one by Bruce Wahl, have been abandoned.  so, as far as I know, only AFVNVETS.net and MACV Office of Information (http://www.macoi.net/biographies.html and linked to my Roster through "Bio") by Tom and Chu Green are the only two sites related to MACOI and AFVN that are still being actively maintained.
Will update your entry in the Roster sometime next week.  A lot of the entries on the roster may well be information from friends and other secondary sources and therefore, possibly not all that complete.
My wife and I have been staying at the Navy Lodge at Yokosuka Naval Base (in Japan) since May 25th.  (I had cataract surgery on the 26th and some urology-related checks yesterday.)  We plan to return home to Osaka on the 7th.  I find the Wi-Fi here at the Lodge a little slow compared to my optical-fiber connection at home plus my notebook's 15"  screen can't compare with the 27" screen I have at home.  Therefore I have been doing things other than AFVNVETS work.  Will get back to it when I get home.
If the aircheck you found is not already on AFVNVETS.net (https://www.afvnvets.net/audio-archives.html), then please send me the URL so I can make a link to it.  Also, if you send me your story with AFVN and/or some photos I'll make an "AFVN Photos & Stories" page for you.  And, if your photos are "Detachment specific" I will also make something or at least some links under "AFVN Organization" in your name.
