Hi,
I received the following through the AFVNVets Contact form.  Can anyone provide an answer?

QUOTE I was an AG courier for the 4th Inf. I enjoyed the classical program evenings from my Saigon apartment the summer of 68. Where is the announcer? After 3 years of active duty to include a year in Germany, I did 21 more in the USAR in Milwaukee.

Dear John,
You've asked such a specific question I rather doubt if I can find an answer.   I have, however, passed your question on to the AFVN@yahoogroups.com   It has about 500 members (but many of them are rather inactive).  I know that some of the active ones were with AFVN in 1968 but whether or not they remember the name of the announcer is a good question.  "Where" he is might be even more difficult because possibly only 1/3rd or so of the people who were with AFVN are members of this group and many of the others have passed on.
Regardless, I'll try and thanks for the contact.

Joe, wasn’t that show carried on Mutual?  Mutual aired Hawaii Calls as late night entertainment.  I think it was Arthur Godfrey who hosted that show.

"The Most Beautiful Sounds Around."  I used to listen to him late at night as I drove cross country when I left Nam.  What a voice. Brother of actor Don Ameche ("Cocoon").

While I was there (68/69) the live show on FM was hosted by Steve Reichl.  Don't recall his branch or rank, but he was from New York.

Scott,
Thanks!  Steve Reichi isn't on the AFVN roster but is on the MACOI site ( http://www.macoi.net/biographies.html --then search for "Reichi.").  I'll add him as soon as possible.  The bio doesn't give his rank or branch of service either.   It does say that he was born in Cleveland, Ohio and then made a career for himself in New York--possibly after leaving Vietnam?  The bio may also partly answer John's question.

Saturdays would have been the day when AFVN broadcast “Live From The Met” hosted by Milton Cross, a weekly broadcast of the Metropolitan Opera company.  Maybe that’s what the question refers to.

Any chance he is remembering The John Doremus Show?
