I also played that course in 1966, we also spent lots of time at the riverfront park of the Country Club.  My roommate was in charge of the Admiral’s gig and other semi-pleasure boats, we water skied on the river.

Michael.......what wonderful memories you brought back to me with that story about the Golf course.
Now a confession from 1968 and 1969 that probably only Mike Sullivan and Jim Amross would have known about.
I remember walking around that golf course because I had most afternoon's free....  I did the FM morning show called Sunrise in Saigon and my air shift was over at 9 and I had other duties that took me to about 1pm.  One day I found my way to the golf course and eventually went in the club house and talked to the mgr....  I saw Americans playing Golf there and didn't know that they had access.  In my conversation the course manager (who was listening to AFVN FM) he said most Americans do not know that they can play....I went on to tell him that if Americans are allowed to play that I should be able to  give him a few mentions on my show.  I did get clearance from I believe Sgt Banks or a Sgt. Rodreiguz (?).   I then  went back to the golf course and told the mgr that I will be able to give him a few 'plugs' every week and he in return, gave me free golf anytime I wanted.
That's my confession...I totally forgot about that, until you sent that article

Michael....as Bob Hope would say..."Thanks for the Memories"
