Tom,
Echoing the welcomes here.  Don’t mind Forrest.  I’m not a Command Master Chief anymore and he’s not a green Lieutenant, either.  Just Joe, ready to meet/greet/and tour USS MIDWAY if ever you’re in the vicinity.
Hooyah,
Joe

Tom,
Welcome to the AFVN Group.
As shown at the very bottom of this message, I'm the Webmaster for the AFVN@yahoogroups website.  If you haven't found it already, then please take a look.   Who knows, you might find something interesting.  Also, if you have any photos or stories at all related to being an AFVN listener, please send them to me and I may be able to give you a page under "Photos and Stories."
Also, as noted under "Reunions" on our website, we are having a 2016 reunion in Raleigh, NC.  We don't get a "listener" to these events very often, but I know you would warmly welcomed.
Best wishes,
Jim W

Welcome, Tom.  Please don’t believe Forrest’s allegations.  After all, as every Navy man knows, “A Chief does not drink.  But …”

Welcome aboard, Tom.  Watch out for Master Chief Joe C. and stay away from Ken’s paint locker.

Welcome Tom! We are just a bunch of old broadcasters who ran a radio/TV network during the conflict then came home to sit in front of the mic's  again at home.  I think I read somewhere the other day there were only a few more than 2-thousand of us with that military occupation in all the services....or was it 2-thousand just in the Army with the broadcast MOS.  Anyway, it was a privilege for a few of us to serve our military brothers "on the air."

Hi, My name is Tom Herlacher.  I'm a US Navy Vietnam vet.  I was in country at NAF Cam Rahn Bay from  June 1970 until October 1970.  Then I was transferred to Light Attack Squadron Four (VAL-4) at NSA Binh Thuy until I returned to the states for discharge in January 1972.  I saw some information about your group from a squadron buddy of mine named Bob Peetz and I was interested in joining the group.  I live in Waterloo, Illinois and I'm kinda retired now.
I look forward to seeing some more information from the AFVN group.  I remember listening to a lot of the AFVN broadcasts on the radio especially when I was in the office working night shifts.  You guys did a good job.
