Tuesday’s show had some pictures of him and snatches of a couple of his songs, but then it went into The Kingston Trio.

And, Marc, after watching every minute of the series, I understand.  Last night's final episode showed Vince Gill breaking down while singing at George Jones' funeral.  I've purchased the 4-CD set of all original songs played during the eight-part series, which arrives tomorrow. My opinion; well worth the money.

Well the potential buyers read too.  I’m interested in the development for DAB using the AM spectrum.   Some reports from the United Kingdom show it being superior to FM.  You get better fidelity, the characteristics of AM signal range, and not the interference common to AM. It would be nice if the Commission would move on transmitters and the technical side.   Do any of you have experience with that.

One of my early jobs in radio was at a day-timer in Glens Falls, NY on the far northern fringe of the 49th market (Albany, NY). Ownership used trade-outs for everything from a suite of offices in the local swanky hotel, to cars, his boat and even groceries. There was little cash which changed hands and finally cash flow problems caught up the operation. and threatened to sink it.
An “angel” was found to bail out the radio station, however part of the deal was that the rescuer’s daughter was installed on site to keep an eye on the cash register. The engineer who ran a local TV repair shop (1960s) ended up marrying the girl.
As the newsman it was embarrassing to cash my paycheck written by the “angel,” Icky’s Cookies. Once I even saw a cookie jar from Icky’s on Ebay and always wished I had bought it.

I've been watching the country music programs with great interest and appreciation. I've watched them all straight through , except for one, but for some reason I've only seen references to Woody Guthrie, not a full section about him and his influence. Have I missed a part and should I review it somewhere , if any of you know where it would be?

I just googled the station where I first worked south of Atlanta and see it is now billed as Atlanta’s cultural link to the Caribbean, with Caribbean news, music and entertainment and what seems to be a gospel music format with black personalities …. what used to be termed “colored” and now African American. No idea if it is canned programming from elsewhere. Some time I’ll have to click on to “listen live.” The address of the station is now in town, not the same as it was the last time I drove by it. But I would guess the antenna is that same location beside I-20. The times they are a-changing.

My schedule did not allow me to watch it, so I hope it comes around again. I was also remiss in not DVRing, Preston. I blew it plain and simple.

Hang in there, Roy.  You can certainly do it.

No direct experience here Roy, but as I understand DAB technology it requires wider channels to accommodate full audio fidelity. Either fewer stations and channels, expanding the AM broadcast band or shifting AM BC to a different spectrum assignment would be required.
One proposal I've seen would use the 40-50 MHz range instead of the current .53 to 1.7 MHz. for AM BC.  Might reduce coverage and eliminate most nighttime skywave (skip).
But Fla. highway Patrol and other agencies used 40-50 MHz for wide area coverage for many years before moving to higher frequencies and repeaters.
If FCC acted and manufacturers were incentivized to produce and market compatible receivers, there might be hope. Seems like a long shot.
